Mass Appraisal GIS (MAGI)

AG was contracted to develop and support the Bermuda Government Land Valuation Department’s Mass Appraisal system (MAGI).

MAGI is comprised of a case management system, a GIS (based on the Government’s Enterprise Spatial Server solution from AG), a reporting system, a work flow system and Mass Appraisal services. MAGI is used to manage all property tax assessments and appraisals in Bermuda. These valuations are used by the Office of the Tax Commissioner for the determination and collection of approximately US$40 million in revenue for the Bermuda Government.

Key functions in MAGI:
  • Valuation Roll: Maintenance of the “Valuation Roll”, which involves the development of functions to support individual assessments on new, amended, or demolished residential and commercial properties for land tax.

  • Mass Appraisal: Provide functionality to mass appraise residential and commercial properties across the island to arrive at updated annual rental values (ARVs).

  • Daily Appraisal: Provide the means to carry out daily case work on appraisals (including metrics, sketches and photos) for stamp duty and other requirements.

  • GIS Enabled: Spatially enable all processes by integrating GIS components into the system.

  • Reporting: Automatically produce critical outputs, including Notices of Amendment, Precis Books, and draft valuation rolls.

  • Workload Review: Provide senior management with an overview of the valuation team’s workload and reallocate accordingly.
